Im reading Bird In The Spring by Evelyn Hood,a Scottish write living in Clyde coast.(i feel like she lives quite near to West End,the area im living right now which is actually not)

I learnt many words used by Scottish from the book.Yeah, improving my Scottish vocab since my last English colloquial class.

1-Hogmanay : The last day or the year aka the new year celebration for Scottish. No wonder Scotland is known for organizing one of largest new year celebrations in the world.

2-Pend: tunnel-like passageway passes through a building, connecting the street and courtyard of the house.
.It's different from the normal tunnel because it has a room on top of it.Pend originally mean to hang in English. So, it is understandable it is called pend.

it's good getting to learn new thing every day =)
